Arizona Rises to No. 2, Alabama Crashes Top 10 as Purdue Retains Top Spot

Purdue has maintained its position as the top-ranked team in the latest AP Top 25 men's college basketball poll. The Boilermakers secured 46 out of 61 first-place votes following a 30-point win over then-No. 15 Texas Tech in the Baha Mar Championship in the Bahamas. Arizona has continued its impressive rise, jumping to No. 2 after beating then-No. 3 UConn and then-No. 13 Florida in consecutive weeks. The Wildcats earned 11 first-place votes, with their recent victories contributing to their swift climb up the rankings. Alabama has entered the top 10, rising from No. 11 after defeating then-No. 8 Illinois in Chicago. The Crimson Tide's strong performance has earned them a spot among the top-ranked teams in the country. Michigan State had the biggest jump of the week, climbing six spots to No. 11 after beating Kentucky in the Champions Classic. Tennessee and North Carolina also made significant gains, moving up three and two spots, respectively. However, Kentucky suffered the biggest fall, dropping seven spots to No. 19 after a 17-point loss to the Spartans. Illinois and Texas Tech also fell five spots each in the rankings. Wisconsin and Kansas have been replaced by Vanderbilt and Indiana in the poll, with the Commodores making their first Top 25 appearance since 2015. The Jayhawks have fallen out of the rankings for the second consecutive year. The Southeastern Conference has the most ranked teams with seven, including Auburn and Arkansas. The Big Ten follows closely with six ranked teams, while the Big 12 has five and the Atlantic Coast Conference has four.
