San Francisco 49ers quarterback Brock Purdy is unlikely to make his sixth consecutive start due to a lingering toe injury. While there's a possibility he could return in a backup role, coach Kyle Shanahan is cautious about his player's readiness. Purdy has been participating in limited practice sessions over the past few weeks and has been working alongside the starters. However, Shanahan wants to assess his condition on Saturday before making a final decision. In Purdy's absence, Mac Jones will lead the team for the sixth time this season. Jones has performed well in his previous starts, posting a 5-2 record. The 49ers will also be without receiver Ricky Pearsall, who is nursing a knee injury and has missed six games. On a positive note, several key players are set to return to action this week. Defensive end Bryce Huff will rejoin the team after missing two games due to a hamstring injury. Left guard Ben Bartch will be activated from injured reserve and is expected to make his first appearance since Week 2. However, the 49ers will have to contend with several injuries, including those to linebackers Dee Winters and Tatum Bethune, and defensive linemen Keion White, Alfred Collins, and Kalia Davis. The team will also place rookie defensive end Mykel Williams on injured reserve to make room for Bartch's return.
