In a remarkable display of determination and skill, Indian boxers Parveen Hooda, Arundhati Choudhary, and Preeti Pawar sailed into the finals of the ongoing World Boxing Cup in Greater Noida. The trio's impressive performances marked a successful comeback for each of them, with Parveen returning to international boxing after a 14-month doping ban and Arundhati and Preeti making a comeback after 15 months and their respective injuries. Parveen Hooda, who had been out of the international scene due to a doping ban, made a stunning comeback by defeating Poland's Rygielska Aneta Elzbieta in the 60kg division with a hard-fought 3-2 win. Arundhati Choudhary, who had been nursing an injury and was back in action after 15 months, dominated German Leonie Muller in the 70kg class with a third-round RSC verdict. Preeti Pawar, a Hangzhou Asian Games bronze medallist, overpowered Chinese Taipei's reigning world champion Huang Hsiao-wen in the 54kg division with a 4-0 win. Meanwhile, Saweety Boora signed off with a bronze medal in the 75kg division after losing to Australia's Emma Sue Greentree in the semi-finals. The Indian women's team won five out of their six semi-finals, with the only loss coming through Saweety. Arundhati Choudhary's dominant victory over Muller was particularly impressive, given her recent injury and surgery on her left wrist. The 23-year-old, who underwent surgery earlier this year and began sparring only last month, showed no signs of rust and was relentless in attack and resolute in defence. "It's my international comeback after one-and-a-half years, and I have taken an RSC win, so I am very happy," Arundhati said after her win. "I was a bit nervous coming into this contest, but this is the moment I was waiting for all these months.
