Ivory Coast striker Elye Wahi, a 23-year-old suspect in a spot-fixing case, has been granted entry into Canada for his team's next FIFA World Cup 2026 game against Germany.
Wahi was initially denied entry but was eventually allowed to travel with his team to Toronto after the necessary authorizations were obtained.
The Ivory Coast Football Federation welcomed the positive outcome and thanked the parties involved in handling the matter.
Wahi is suspected of deliberately earning a yellow card for Nice in Ligue 1, France's top division, in May, which led to an investigation.
The Ligue de Football, the governing body of top professional football divisions in France, has not initiated disciplinary proceedings but reserves the right to do so depending on the progress of the investigation.
