Cleveland Browns legend Bernie Kosar has taken a significant step towards recovery after receiving a liver transplant on Monday. The 61-year-old former quarterback, who spent 12 seasons in the NFL, has been on the waiting list for over a year due to a diagnosis of cirrhosis of the liver and Parkinson's disease. In a heartwarming video posted on social media, Kosar expressed his gratitude and relief, saying, 'I'm out, and I'm feeling good. Just ready to enjoy the rest of the week and the rest of our lives.' This optimistic message comes after a challenging period, which included being scheduled for a transplant last weekend but facing a delay due to an infected donor organ. Kosar's journey began when he was diagnosed with cirrhosis in late 2023. He had been experiencing liver-related issues for years but initially brushed them off. The former University of Miami quarterback played a crucial role in the Browns' history, leading the franchise to three AFC championship game appearances and accumulating 21,904 passing yards, making him third all-time in franchise history. The Browns organization showed their support for Kosar by playing a tribute video before their game against the Baltimore Ravens on Sunday. Coach Kevin Stefanski expressed his well-wishes, calling Kosar 'my guy' and praising his kindness and support for the team and its families. As Kosar embarks on this new chapter, the entire Browns community is rallying behind him, wishing him a speedy recovery and a return to full health.
