Formula E's CEO, Jeff Dodds, has expressed the series' desire to return to India, citing the country's importance as a key market. The world's premier electric racing series made a brief but tumultuous debut in India with the Hyderabad ePrix in February 2023. Although the event was well-received, the subsequent race was canceled due to a breach of contract by the Telangana government. Dodds emphasized the significance of local authorities' support, as Formula E races are held on city street circuits. The series is currently in discussions with various cities worldwide, including those in Asia, Europe, and the US. Dodds also highlighted the interest from cities eager to showcase their commitment to sustainability and electrification through hosting Formula E events. Mahindra Racing, the only Indian Formula E team, has announced its commitment to the Gen4 era of the FIA Formula E World Championship. This decision was made in conjunction with the unveiling of the team's new car, the M12Electro, which will compete in the 2025-26 season. The Gen4 era will introduce more powerful cars, with 450kw of peak race power and 600kw of attack mode power, allowing for more strategic and thrilling racing. Mahindra Racing's commitment to the Gen4 era comes after a successful 2023-24 season, where the team finished fourth in the championship with five podiums. The team's future plans will be closely watched, and a return to India could be a possibility once the right opportunity arises.
