Hailey Baptiste has shared an emotional update after her French Open exit, describing it as the 'most heartbreaking end to the best season' of her life. The 24-year-old suffered a devastating injury to her left knee during her second-round match against Wang Xiyu at Roland Garros, which has left her sidelined for at least six months and requiring surgery.

In a social media post, Baptiste admitted she is still trying to process the setback, saying 'I'm still waiting to wake up from this nightmare.' However, she chose to remain optimistic, believing that everything happens for a reason.

The injury occurred late in the opening set when Baptiste landed awkwardly on her left leg while chasing down a forehand. She immediately collapsed to the clay and clutched her left knee in visible pain. Her father Qasim Baptiste quickly rushed onto the court to assist her daughter.

Baptiste had been enjoying a breakthrough season, climbing to a career-high No. 25 ranking and recording notable wins over top players. She opened with an impressive comeback victory over reigning champion Barbora Krejcikova before her tournament ended in the second round.

Despite the setback, Baptiste expressed confidence that it would ultimately reveal her resilience and strength, saying 'it's hard to see any purpose in something like this right now, but in my heart, I truly believe everything happens for a reason.'
