Iowa's Mark Gronowski rushed for two touchdowns and threw for another, while Kamari Moulton added two more rushing scores, helping the Hawkeyes secure a convincing 40-16 victory over Nebraska on Friday. The decisive win marked the 10th time in 11 meetings that Iowa came out on top, with the previous seven games decided by seven points or less. The Hawkeyes' performance in the second half was particularly impressive, as they held Nebraska to just 69 yards after allowing 231 in the first half. Nebraska's Emmett Johnson, who had a career game in the first half with 177 yards and 29 carries, was unable to sustain his momentum in the second half. Johnson's performance was still notable, as he achieved a career-high 217 yards and matched his previous high with 29 carries. Iowa's Jacory Barney sealed the safety early in the third quarter when he muffed a punt, and Jamir Conn recovered it in the end zone. The Hawkeyes also benefited from a strong performance by tight end DJ Vonnahme, who set a career high with 91 receiving yards. TJ Lateef, Nebraska's freshman quarterback, struggled with 9 of 24 completions for 69 yards. The loss marks the Huskers' fourth defeat in their last six games, following a 5-1 start. Iowa, on the other hand, extended their winning streak to at least eight games per year since 2015, excluding the shortened 2020 pandemic season. The Hawkeyes and Huskers will have to wait until December 7 to find out their bowl destinations. In the meantime, both teams will look to regroup and prepare for their upcoming bowl games.
