India made history at the Asian Archery Championships in Dhaka, securing a golden double in the individual recurve competition. Ankita Bhakat stunned Paris Olympics silver-medallist Nam Suhyeon of South Korea 7-3, while Dhiraj Bommadevara defeated compatriot Rahul 6-2 to become the first Indian man to claim the individual crown. In a thrilling final, Ankita fought back from a 3-5 deficit to emerge victorious with a score of 29-28 in the fourth set. She sealed the win with two 10s in the final set. The bronze medal was clinched by Sangeeta, who edged out Deepika Kumari 6-5 in a shoot-off. The Indian team also secured the women's recurve bronze, with Sangeeta emerging victorious over Deepika. In the men's team event, India's recurve team of Yashdeep Bhoge, Atanu Das, and Rahul overcame South Korea in a nerve-wracking shoot-off to claim their first Asian Championships gold in 18 years. The team rallied from a 2-4 deficit to win 5-4, with Atanu Das delivering a crucial 10 in the shoot-off. This historic win marked a memorable moment for recurve men's team coach Rahul Banerjee, a member of the 2007 champion team. As he anchored a second triumph, he expressed his fulfillment as a coach and set his sights on the next target: the Asian Games.
