In a one-sided clash at the Junior World Cup, India's junior hockey team trounced Oman 17-0 in their Pool B match in Chennai on Saturday. The victory marked their second consecutive high-scoring win, following a 7-0 thrashing of Chile in their previous outing. The home team's attacking prowess was on full display as Manmeet Singh (17th, 26th, 36th), Arshdeep Singh (4th, 33rd, 40th), and Dilraj Singh (29th, 32nd, 58th) each scored three goals, while Ajeet Yadav (34th, 47th), Gurjot Singh (39th, 45th), and Ingalemba Thounaojam Luwang (43rd, 50th) netted two each. Anmol Ekka (29th) and Sharda Nand Tiwari (55th) also contributed to India's scoreline. The match began with Oman putting up a strong defensive effort, but India's relentless attack eventually wore them down. After the two-minute quarter break, India regained momentum and scored multiple goals in quick succession. The second quarter saw India extend their lead to 5-0, with Manmeet scoring again and Anmol and Dilraj joining the party. India's dominance continued into the third quarter, where they capitalized on penalty corners and scored four more goals in a span of five minutes. Manmeet completed his hat-trick, while Dilraj and Arshdeep continued their goal-scoring spree. The final quarter was a formality, with India scoring five more goals to seal their 17-0 victory. Oman's defense struggled to cope with India's attacking onslaught, and despite earning a penalty corner, they failed to score. India will face Switzerland in their final group stage game on Tuesday, with the winner topping the group and qualifying for the quarter-finals.
