In a remarkable display of shooting prowess, India's Elavenil Valarivan secured a bronze medal in the women's 10m air rifle event at the World Championships in Cairo on Saturday. Despite a late slip, Elavenil's fine performance ensured she finished with a score of 232.0. The 26-year-old's first individual Worlds medal adds to her multiple Asian titles. South Korea's Ban Hyo-jin took home the gold with a score of 255, while China's Wang Zifei won silver with 254 points. The Indian women's team, comprising Elavenil, Meghana Sajjanar, and Shreya Agrawal, also secured a bronze medal with an aggregate score of 1893.3. In the men's 10m air rifle event, Olympian Arjun Babuta finished seventh, while former world champion Rudrankksh Patil and Vishal Singh secured 13th and 61st places respectively. The Indian team of Babuta, Rudrankksh, and Vishal finished fourth with an aggregate score of 1891. Meanwhile, 29-year-old Naib Subedar Ravinder Singh achieved a career-best victory by winning gold in the 50m pistol event. With a score of 569, Ravinder outshone South Korea's Kim Cheong-yong and Individual Neutral Athlete Anton Aristarkhov to take the top spot. The Indian team, consisting of Ravinder, Kamaljeet, and Yogesh Kumar, secured silver with an aggregate score of 1646. India currently sits third on the medals table with one gold, one silver, and two bronze medals, while China leads the charts with three gold, a silver, and a bronze.
