Cairo: Aishwary Pratap Singh Tomar, the reigning Asian champion and two-time Olympian, claimed the silver medal in the 50m 3 Position event at the ISSF rifle/pistol World Championships on Tuesday. The 24-year-old shot 466.9 in the final, narrowly missing the top spot by 0.2 points. Tomar's impressive display included equaling the qualification world record with a score of 597 in the 60-shot qualification round, where he also nailed two perfect series each in the kneeling and prone segments. Tomar's silver medal win came after a closely contested final, where he trailed behind China's Olympic champion Liu Yukun after the kneeling round. However, he staged a remarkable comeback in the prone segment, reducing the deficit to just 0.2 points. Despite a slight dip in the standing series, Tomar managed to hold onto the silver medal. France's Romain Aufrere won the bronze medal with a total of 454.8. In the 10m air pistol mixed event, the Indian pair of Esha Singh and Samrat Rana secured the silver medal with a combined score of 586. The pair edged out the Chinese world No.1 Hu Kai and world No.2 Yao Qianxun in the gold medal match. India continues to stay second in the overall standings, with three gold, five silver, and three bronze medals, while China leads with eight gold, four silver, and two bronze medals.
