Indian shooter Esha Singh made history by clinching the gold medal in the women's 25m pistol category with a world record score of 43 at the ISSF World Cup in Munich. The three-time world championship medallist shot perfect fives in half of the 10 series of five shots, securing her first medal at the Munich World Cup and fourth individual World Cup medal.
Esha's victory came despite her admitting to being nervous in the final, with her left hand shaking at one point. However, she managed to focus on her process and training, which paid off as she took the top spot.
She fired a 294 in the rapid-fire round of qualification and a 293 in the precision round, securing the fourth qualifying spot with a total score of 587. In the final, Esha got three perfect fives in the first three series, increasing the distance between her and the rest of the field.
Although she missed the first shot of her fourth series, Esha was still four points clear of second-placed Doreen Vennekamp. She ended with a four and a three, beating the previous world record of 42 set by Korean shooter Kim Yeji in Baku two years ago by one hit.
Esha's win was also a testament to her experience, as she revealed that she had faced her nerves and embraced them, which is a crucial aspect of their sport.
