Indian shooting stars Manu Bhaker and Esha Singh suffered a heartbreaking collapse in the women's 10m air pistol final at the ISSF World Championships. Despite initially performing well, the duo's momentum faltered, with Bhaker dropping from first to seventh and Singh from fourth to sixth. China's Yao Qianxun took the gold with a score of 243.0, while Hong Kong's Ho Ching Shing and China's Wei Qian secured silver and bronze, respectively. In a consolation, the Indian team of Esha, Manu, and Suruchi Inder Singh won a silver medal with a total score of 1740, finishing second behind China. Bhaker, a double Olympic medalist, and Singh, a multiple Asian Games medalist, had entered the final strong, with Bhaker shooting a 580 in qualification and Singh tallying a rare perfect 100 in the third series. However, inconsistencies and nerves ultimately cost them a medal. India remains fifth on the medals table with one gold, three silver, and two bronze medals, while China leads with six gold, three silver, and two bronze medals. The country's top shooters will look to bounce back in the remaining events.
