Iran captain Mehdi Taremi has launched a scathing attack on FIFA and its president Gianni Infantino, calling the 2026 World Cup a 'disaster'. Taremi accused the organisers of failing to resolve logistical and visa issues, which have plagued the team's campaign.
The squad has been forced to shift their base to Tijuana, Mexico, and repeatedly travel to the US for their group-stage matches, leading to issues with recovery and logistics.
Taremi also accused Infantino of not resolving the issue after giving assurances, saying 'It's a disaster World Cup; a disaster.' Head coach Amir Ghalenoei also criticised FIFA for letting tournament co-hosts the US treat his team unfairly.
Ghalenoei urged FIFA to take action against the host country, saying 'I urge Fifa to not let the hosts treat teams and players the same way in the future.'
