Japanese figure skaters Mone Chiba and Yuma Kagiyama made headlines at the Finlandia Trophy, claiming double gold for their country on Saturday. This achievement secures their spots in the upcoming ISU Grand Prix Final, set to take place in Nagoya next month. Chiba, the reigning Skate Canada Grand Prix champion, took the top spot in the women's competition after a stellar free skate. She edged out American Amber Glenn, who had led after the short program, to claim her second Grand Prix gold. Rino Matsuike of Japan also impressed, rising from sixth to claim the bronze medal. In the men's competition, Kagiyama pulled off an impressive comeback, jumping from third to first after the free skate. Despite a fall on his quadruple toe loop and some inaccuracies, he managed to score 270.45 points overall. Kagiyama's determination and skill were evident as he performed to music from Puccini's opera Turandot. Meanwhile, France's Adam Siao Him Fa, who had led after the short program, dropped to second place after a routine marred by messy landings. Canada's Stephen Gogolev took the third spot with 253.61 points. The Finlandia Trophy also saw impressive performances from other skaters. Germany's Minerva Fabienne Hase and Nikita Volodin won the pairs event, while Guillaume Cizeron and Laurence Fournier Beaudry of France took the ice dancing gold. These victories have secured spots for Kagiyama, Siao Him Fa, and other top performers in the upcoming ISU Grand Prix Final, set to take place in early December. This event will be their last opportunity to compete against the world's best before the Milan-Cortina Olympics in February.
