The Los Angeles Lakers have bid farewell to Joey and Jesse Buss, the sons of late owner Jerry Buss, from their scouting roles within the organization. The brothers, who are minority owners, will continue to be involved with the team in this capacity. In a statement, they expressed gratitude for their 20-year tenure with the Lakers and appreciation for the team's fans. The Buss brothers held prominent positions within the organization. Joey, 41, served as Alternate Governor, Vice President of Research & Development, and President and CEO of the South Bay Lakers. Jesse, 37, was Assistant General Manager and Director of Scouting. This development comes after the Buss family relinquished majority ownership of the Lakers to Mark Walter in June 2025. Jeanie Buss, the siblings' sister and former majority owner, will continue to lead the team as primary governor. The Lakers have yet to release an official statement regarding the Buss brothers' departure. The brothers' departure marks a significant change for the team, but the Lakers remain committed to their mission and goals under the leadership of Jeanie Buss.
