In a resounding victory, the Louisville Cardinals overcame significant injuries to their top players and defeated the Kentucky Wildcats 41-0 on Saturday. The win marked the largest margin of victory for Louisville in the annual series, which was resumed in 1994, and the team's first shutout of the Wildcats in 21 years. Freshmen running backs Braxton Jennings and Shaun Boykins Jr. were instrumental in the Cardinals' success, both rushing for over 100 yards. Jennings, a true freshman walk-on, ran 20 times for 113 yards, while Boykins Jr., a redshirt freshman who started the season as a wide receiver, added 101 yards and a touchdown on 22 rushes. The duo led a ground attack that gained 258 yards, Louisville's second-best total this season. Quarterback Miller Moss threw for 182 yards and accounted for four touchdowns, three of which were in the air, as the Cardinals snapped a three-game losing streak. The team's defense was equally impressive, limiting the Wildcats to 147 yards, a season-low for the Cardinals. Kentucky, on the other hand, ended its season with two straight losses and will not participate in a bowl game. The loss adds heat to coach Mark Stoops' seat heading into the 2026 season. Meanwhile, Louisville will play in a bowl game and will learn its destination and opponent on December 7. This win provides some consolation for the beleaguered Cardinals, who will still have a chance to win at least nine games for the third straight season.
