In a significant move, Mick Schumacher, the son of seven-time Formula One world champion Michael Schumacher, will make the switch to IndyCar for the 2026 season. The 26-year-old German driver will join Rahal Letterman Lanigan Racing (RLL) and drive the number 47 Honda, a nod to his family's rich racing history. Schumacher, who made 43 F1 starts for Haas in 2021 and 2022, has also competed in the World Endurance Championship for Alpine in 2024 and 2025. He expressed his excitement about joining IndyCar, citing the series' emphasis on direct and pure racing as a major draw. "I'm delighted to confirm that I'll be competing in the IndyCar Series next year," Schumacher said. "I'm looking forward to the new challenges and experiences that come with racing in the US open-wheel series.
