In a surprise move, the Minnesota Vikings have decided to start rookie quarterback Max Brosmer against the Seattle Seahawks on Sunday. The decision comes after J.J. McCarthy, who has been struggling this season, was ruled out due to concussion protocol. McCarthy had been experiencing symptoms since the team's game against Green Bay last week. Despite being the 10th overall pick in the 2024 draft, McCarthy has struggled in his six starts, affecting the Vikings' performance, which ranks near the bottom of the league in several key categories. Brosmer, who was a priority undrafted free agent signing, has shown promise after a standout season as a graduate transfer for Minnesota. He led the FCS in passing yards per game in 2023 during his time at New Hampshire. The Vikings also have concerns on the offensive line, with left tackle Christian Darrisaw listed as questionable and left guard Donovan Jackson ruled out against the Seahawks, who have a strong defense. Coach Kevin O'Connell expressed confidence in Brosmer, saying, 'I have a ton of confidence in Max.' The team will closely monitor McCarthy's condition and hope for a speedy recovery. Meanwhile, Journeyman John Wolford will serve as the backup quarterback for Brosmer.
