Neymar has finally played in this World Cup, making his debut as a second-half substitute in Brazil's 3-0 win against Scotland on Wednesday.

The Brazil superstar checked in during the 76th minute with the team leading 3-0 and well on its way to clinching a spot in the knockout stage.

Neymar did not start, but his appearance was met with cheers from the fans, who roared when he got off the bench to warm up and made his first touch.

The 34-year-old had been dealing with a right calf injury that sidelined him for more than a month, but he trained well this week and was deemed fit and able to play by coach Carlo Ancelotti.

Neymar is Brazil's career scoring leader with 79 goals in 129 international appearances, and his role on the team has been a major talking point among fans.

However, he struggled since returning from a knee injury and has four goals in eight matches for Brazilian club Santos this season.

Brazil advanced to the knockout stage as the Group C winner, with Vinícius Júnior scoring two goals and Matheus Cunha also scoring in the 3-0 win.
