The long-awaited compensation for Ron Goldman's family may finally be within reach. Fred Goldman, the father of the victim, has submitted a $58 million claim against O.J. Simpson's estate. However, the actual payment is unlikely to be the full amount, as the estate's assets are limited. Simpson's executor, Malcolm LaVergne, confirmed that the estate had accepted the claim, but emphasized that it would not result in a payment of $58 million plus interest. Instead, it would be a voluntary payment, which is a significant step forward for the Goldman family. The estate is currently trying to gather assets to pay off the debt, with a target of $500,000 to $1 million. Simpson passed away in 2024 at the age of 76, after serving time in prison for armed robbery and other charges. In a 1994 civil case, Simpson was found liable for the deaths of his ex-wife, Nicole Brown Simpson, and Ron Goldman, and was ordered to pay $33.5 million, which has grown with interest. Fred Goldman's attorney, Michaelle Rafferty, noted that the estate's acceptance of the claim does not constitute payment, and that they will continue to monitor the probate proceedings. The case has been a long and contentious one, with Fred Goldman hounding Simpson for years to pay the debt. The acceptance of the claim is seen as a significant development, but it remains to be seen how much the Goldman family will ultimately receive.
