Pierre Sage has left his position as Lens coach to take over at English Premier League club Crystal Palace. The 47-year-old Sage led Lens to its first Coupe de France title last season and a second-place finish in the French league.
Palace needed a new manager following Oliver Glasner's departure after nearly two-and-a-half years at the helm.
Sage has agreed a three-year contract and expressed his excitement about the history of the club and recent seasons, saying he is 'tremendously excited' to welcome him.
Palace chairman Steve Parish said Sage will give everything to target more success for the club, citing his success with Lens and his similar approach to the one Glasner deployed.
Sage will take over a team that will be playing in the Europa League next season and has a brand of high-octane soccer based around rapid breaks and getting the ball out quickly to the wingers.
