The Buffalo Sabres' winning streak shows no signs of slowing down, as they defeated the Carolina Hurricanes 4-1 at home on Sunday. Ukko-Pekka Luukkonen made an impressive 28 saves, and four different players found the back of the net. Alex Tuch, Jack Quinn, and Beck Malenstyn each scored goals in the first, second, and third periods, respectively. In the midst of a four-game winning streak, the Sabres took advantage of an early power play opportunity to take the lead. Tuch capitalized on a pass from Josh Doan and Ryan McLeod just 5:51 into the game. However, the Hurricanes evened the score with Shayne Gostisbehere's goal late in the first period. The Sabres regained the lead in the second period, courtesy of Quinn's tip-in goal off a pass from Jason Zucker and McLeod. Buffalo's offense continued to roll, with Malenstyn scoring 1:24 into the third period to make it 3-1. Tage Thompson sealed the win with an empty-net goal, his fifth in as many games. Carolina's five-game point streak came to an end, and the team will look to bounce back from the loss. The Sabres, on the other hand, will aim to continue their momentum and climb the Eastern Conference standings.
