As Scotland gears up to face Tonga this Sunday, head coach Gregor Townsend is addressing the discontent among fans following their recent collapse against Argentina. Despite the 33-24 defeat, where Scotland held a 21-0 lead early in the second half, Townsend believes the supporters remain committed to the team. Townsend acknowledged the disappointment and frustration among fans but emphasized that the team has delivered positive performances in their last few matches, including a comeback against New Zealand. The Scotland coach signed a contract extension in September to take him through to the 2027 World Cup and remains committed to his role. Townsend downplayed the notion that fans have grown disillusioned with near-misses, citing a spike in ticket sales for the upcoming Tonga match. He emphasized that the team and fans share a common goal and that even in defeat, they can learn and grow stronger. "I've seen the team play the best rugby in eight years over the last two or three weeks," Townsend said. "We're disappointed we didn't get a win, but to be in those positions, the team is delivering up to that point.
