The Seattle Seahawks have strengthened their roster ahead of their matchup against the Minnesota Vikings on Sunday. The team has signed running back Cam Akers and linebacker Patrick O'Connell to their 53-man roster, while safety Quandre Diggs and cornerback Shaquill Griffin return to the organization. Akers, 26, joins the Seahawks after being released by the Minnesota Vikings on Saturday. In his brief stint with the Vikings, he ran for 19 yards on five carries. The former Los Angeles Rams player has a rich history in the NFC West, with 2,044 yards and 13 touchdowns in 56 career games over six seasons. Diggs, 32, who played five seasons with the Seahawks from 2019-23, returns to the team after being waived by the Tennessee Titans on November 7. He boasts an impressive defensive record, with 345 tackles and 18 interceptions over 72 games with the Seahawks. In his 11 NFL seasons, Diggs has accumulated 652 tackles and 24 interceptions over 154 games. Griffin, 30, returns to the Seahawks after a two-game stint this season, during which he made seven tackles. The cornerback, who played his first four NFL seasons in Seattle, earned Pro Bowl honors in 2019 and has a total of 414 tackles with nine interceptions in 108 games across nine seasons. O'Connell, 26, has been a consistent presence on the Seahawks' roster, with 16 tackles in nine games over the past three seasons. The team's move to bolster their roster comes as they sit in second place in the NFC West, with a home game against the Vikings on Sunday.
