Serena Williams, the 23-time Grand Slam singles champion, is set to face Australia's Maya Joint in the first round of Wimbledon after a four-year absence from singles action.
Williams, 44, was given a wild card entry into the tournament, which she has won seven times.
She made a sensational comeback to the sport by playing in the Queen's Club and Berlin Open doubles earlier in June.
Williams last played a singles match nearly four years ago at the US Open, which she said would be her farewell to the sport.
However, she has now announced her return, motivated by a desire to play in front of her two young daughters.
Williams will face a tough opponent in Joint, who has won just one of her past 14 matches.
She will need to be at the top of her game if she is to progress to the second round, where she could face 29th seed Alexandra Eala of the Philippines.
Williams has not played at Wimbledon since losing to Harmony Tan in the first round in 2022 and has not won a Grand Slam crown since the 2017 Australian Open.
