University of North Carolina (UNC) basketball team has confirmed that senior captain Seth Trimble has suffered a broken bone in his left forearm during a team workout on November 9. The Tar Heels' star player is set to undergo surgery this week, leaving his participation in upcoming games uncertain. According to UNC coach Hubert Davis, Trimble will be back at some point this year, but the exact duration of his absence will be determined after the surgery. Trimble has been a key player for the Tar Heels, having played in as many as 104 games over the past three-plus seasons. He has been known for his outstanding defensive efforts, as seen in UNC's 87-74 win against Kansas, where he scored 17 points and grabbed eight rebounds. The Tar Heels are optimistic about Trimble's return, with Davis praising him as a 'great kid and teammate' who has worked hard for his senior year. Trimble's teammates have also shown support, with a post on X stating that they have him while he's down. Trimble himself has expressed optimism, posting an Instagram Story with his teammates in the locker room, saying he'll see them in a few weeks.
