Italian tennis sensation Jannik Sinner kicked off his title defence in style with a dominant 7-5, 6-1 win over a struggling Felix Auger-Aliassime at the ATP Finals in Turin on Monday. The victory marked Sinner's 27th consecutive win on indoor hard courts and propelled him to the top of the Bjorn Borg Group. Auger-Aliassime, who had been battling a left calf injury, was unable to keep pace with Sinner's aggressive play. The Italian broke serve twice to secure the win, including a decisive ace that sealed the match in one hour and 41 minutes. Sinner acknowledged the importance of winning the first match in the competition, saying, "Obviously, winning the first match is crucial in this format." He expressed concern for Auger-Aliassime's injury, wishing him a speedy recovery and hoping he returns to full strength. In another match, American Taylor Fritz delivered a commanding performance to defeat Lorenzo Musetti 6-3, 6-4. Fritz, who lost to Sinner in last year's final, showed no signs of fatigue as he controlled the match from the start, winning 84% of his first serves and giving Musetti only four break point chances. Fritz credited his strong serving and ability to stay focused under pressure for his victory, saying, "I did a great job early on in the match to serve my way out of trouble." He expressed his enthusiasm for the tournament, stating, "Every time I come here, I like the conditions and it's very easy to get motivated and fired up.
