After a rollercoaster ride of injuries and inconsistent results that nearly derailed Kidambi Srikanth's Olympic dreams, the ace shuttler has shown signs of redemption this year. His runner-up finish at the Malaysia Masters 2025 in May marked a significant turning point, rekindling hopes of a resurgence. Srikanth, a former world No. 1, has been working tirelessly to regain his form after struggling through a period of inconsistent results and a drop in rankings. Despite being ranked 65th at the time, he demonstrated his tactical sharpness and improved fitness by reaching the final of a BWF tournament for the first time in four years. His journey to the final included victories over higher-ranked opponents, including France's Toma Junior Popov and Ireland's Nhat Nguyen. However, he fell short against China's Li Shi Feng in straight games. Srikanth's coach, Parupalli Kashyap, a former rival turned coach, attributes his progress to his dedication to physical conditioning and managing his fitness. Kashyap, who had a thrilling 23-21, 23-21 win over Srikanth in the 2015 final, believes that the shuttler has shown significant improvement in recent months. "He's trying his best, and it's clear that he's working hard to stay fit," Kashyap said. "We expect a lot from him, but he's slowly improving, and that's a positive sign.
