In a thrilling finish, the Houston Texans secured a 16-13 victory over the Tennessee Titans in Nashville, thanks to Matthew Wright's 35-yard field goal as time expired. Wright, filling in for injured Ka'imi Fairbairn, successfully kicked his third field goal of the game, capping a nine-play, 48-yard drive that saw Davis Mills make a crucial 17-yard completion to Nico Collins on a third-and-16 situation. Mills, stepping in for CJ Stroud, completed 26 of 41 passes for 274 yards, earning his second consecutive win. His 3-yard touchdown pass to Collins gave the Texans a 7-6 lead in the third quarter. Wright added field goals of 41 and 43 yards to increase the margin to seven. The Titans, however, staged a comeback, tying the game with 1:35 left when Cam Ward connected with Van Jefferson for a 4-yard scoring strike, following an 11-play, 95-yard drive. Ward finished with 24 of 37 completions for 194 yards. Tennessee's return of several veterans, including Jeffery Simmons and Calvin Ridley, was short-lived, as Ridley suffered an ankle injury after one snap. Despite this setback, the Titans managed to hold a slim lead until the middle of the third quarter, thanks to Joey Slye's field goals and their defense. Slye's 56-yard field goal with 50 seconds left in the first quarter gave the Titans a 6-0 lead, which they maintained until the Texans' late surge.
