COLLEGE STATION, Texas - In a stunning turn of events, No. 3 Texas A&M pulled off the biggest comeback in school history, rallying from a 27-point deficit to defeat South Carolina 31-30 on Saturday. The Aggies' remarkable comeback marked the largest in school history, surpassing a 21-point rally in the 2013 Chick-Fil-A Bowl. Marcel Reed led the charge, throwing for a career-high 439 yards and three touchdowns. Despite a dismal first half, where he was intercepted twice and suffered a fumble returned for a touchdown, Reed bounced back with a dazzling second half performance. He connected with EJ Smith on a 4-yard run to put the Aggies ahead with about 11 minutes left. However, the Gamecocks recovered a fumble on a trick play with about three minutes to go, threatening to spoil the comeback. But Dalton Brooks and Cashius Howell's consecutive sacks on LaNorris Sellers brought up fourth-and-16 with about 90 seconds remaining. Sellers' subsequent fourth-down scramble was stopped short of the first down marker, sealing the victory for Texas A&M. Reed's 439 yards and three touchdowns were complemented by K.C. Concepcion's 158 yards receiving and Ashton Bethel-Roman's 139 yards receiving. Izaiah Williams caught a 27-yard touchdown pass from Reed to make it 30-10 on A&M's first drive of the second half. The Gamecocks' LaNorris Sellers threw for 246 yards with two touchdowns and an interception, but it wasn't enough to prevent their fifth consecutive loss. South Carolina will host Coastal Carolina next week, while Texas A&M will face Samford before a showdown with rival No. 10 Texas on November 28.
