In a devastating turn of events, 24-year-old defensive end Marshawn Kneeland, a member of the Dallas Cowboys, has passed away. Kneeland was found dead on November 6 after a police pursuit that ended in a self-inflicted gunshot wound. According to Frisco Police, Kneeland was pulled over for a traffic stop but failed to comply, leading to a high-speed chase. Three hours later, his vehicle was discovered, and Kneeland was pronounced dead. The Dallas Cowboys organization has expressed their deepest condolences to Kneeland's girlfriend, Catalina, and his family. "Marshawn was a beloved teammate and an integral part of our team," the team stated. Marshawn Kneeland was born on July 8, 2001, to Shawn and Wendy Kneeland in Grand Rapids, Michigan. He was one of four siblings and spent most of his life in western Michigan. Kneeland attended Godwin Heights High School before playing college football at Western Michigan University. His mother, Wendy, was a constant source of support throughout his life and football career. She often attended his practices and games, and Kneeland credited her unwavering support as instrumental in helping him navigate college and prepare for the NFL. Tragically, Wendy passed away in February 2024, just before the NFL Scouting Combine. In a statement, Kneeland's family asked for privacy as they process their grief. "Marshawn was a devoted son, brother, uncle, cousin, nephew, grandson, and friend. He was kind, determined, humble, and full of love."
