Table Tennis Federation of India (TTFI) Secretary General Kamlesh Mehta has been suspended, sparking a fresh controversy in the national sports body. Mehta, an eight-time national champion and former international player, claims the decision was 'unconstitutional' and vows to take the matter to court. The TTFI has cited 'serious procedural breaches, governance failures, and financial irregularities' as the reasons for Mehta's suspension. A three-member inquiry committee has been formed to investigate the allegations. Mehta alleges that TTFI President Meghna Ahlawat has been taking unilateral decisions, compromising fairness and accountability within the federation. Mehta's suspension has raised concerns about the governance of TTFI, which has been under scrutiny from the union sports ministry. The ministry had issued a notice to the federation in December over the delay in organizing the senior national championships and announcing the domestic calendar. The TTFI has announced the championships in Indore from March 15 to 22, but Mehta's suspension has cast a shadow over the event's smooth conduct.
