The United States moved on to the World Cup knockout stage after a 3-2 loss to Turkey in the final and meaningless Group D match.

US (2-1-0, 6 points) entered the match having already won the group, knowing they will meet Bosnia and Herzegovina in the round of 32 on July 1.

Turkey (1-2-0, 3 points) entered the night already eliminated from contention after losses to Australia and Paraguay.

Auston Trusty scored in the third minute before Turkey finally got their first goal of the tournament in the 10th minute when Arda Guler tied it 1-1.

Baris Alper Yilmaz made it 2-1 in the 31st and Sebastian Berhalter scored in the 49th minute to make it 2-2.

Kaan Ayhan scored on the last meaningful kick of the match in the eighth minute of second-half stoppage time.

Christian Pulisic entered in the 58th minute to a huge ovation from the home crowd and had 25 touches and three shots, two on target in his 32 minutes.
