Max Verstappen, the Red Bull Formula One driver, has effectively ruled out his chances of winning the championship after a disappointing qualifying session for the Sao Paulo Grand Prix. Despite finishing fourth in a sprint race earlier, Verstappen qualified 16th for the main event, leaving him 39 points behind leader Lando Norris. The Dutch driver was candid in his assessment of his situation, saying, "I can forget about that" when asked about his title chances. He attributed his struggles to a combination of factors, including the car's performance and his own lack of grip on the Interlagos track. Verstappen had previously stated that he needed perfection and a bit of luck to stay in contention, but his qualifying session and comments suggest that he is now focusing on damage control. His teammate, Yuki Tsunoda, fared even worse, qualifying 19th. The 28-year-old driver, who won the grand prix last year after starting 17th, expressed doubts about repeating that feat, citing "different circumstances." With four races and a sprint remaining, Verstappen's title hopes appear to be dwindling.
