A US citizen building a bomb? An Afghan national has been arrested in Texas for allegedly making terroristic threats, sparking concerns about national security. Mohammad Dawood Alokozay, a 29-year-old Afghan national, was arrested on Tuesday and charged with making terroristic threats after he allegedly posted a video on TikTok indicating he was building a bomb and planning to target a building in the Fort Worth area. According to officials, Alokozay was admitted to the US as a legal permanent resident in September 2022 as part of former President Joe Biden's Operation Allies Welcome program, which aimed to resettle Afghans after the US withdrawal from the nation. Alokozay's arrest comes a day after another Afghan national, Rahmanullah Lakanwal, allegedly shot two National Guard members in Washington DC. Lakanwal, who also came to the US under the same program, had previously assisted the CIA and was part of an agency-backed unit in the Afghan military. The Trump administration has halted all asylum decisions in the wake of the DC shooting, which left one National Guard member dead and another critically injured. White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt has accused the Biden administration of unleashing a 'national security crisis' on the country. Alokozay is currently being held at the Tarrant County Corrections Center, but there is a discrepancy in his inmate details, with his race listed as 'White' despite being an Afghan national. The Department of Homeland Security has clarified that Alokozay is indeed an Afghan national.
