The attack occurred just blocks from the White House on November 26, at approximately 2:15 pm local time, near the intersection of 17th and I Streets NW. The suspect, identified as Rahmanullah Lakanwal, an Afghan national, was taken into custody at the scene and suffered gunshot wounds. According to sources, the FBI is investigating the incident as a possible act of terrorism. The motive behind the attack remains unknown.
