The bodies of Charles and Linda Lightfoot, an elderly couple from Texas, were discovered in a rural area of New Mexico on Tuesday. The couple, aged 82 and 81, respectively, went missing on Thanksgiving while returning from a visit to friends in the Texas Panhandle. According to police, the Lightfoots died due to hypothermia, a condition where the body loses heat faster than it can produce it. However, the exact cause of death has not been confirmed yet. The couple, who relied on oxygen to breathe, were reported missing after a Silver Alert was issued in New Mexico and Texas. A massive search effort was launched, involving drones and patrol cars, to locate the couple. Their car was found in a pasture near Tucumcari, New Mexico, and it is believed that they died in the area. The Carson County Sheriff's Office has extended its gratitude to the public and other agencies involved in the search. The Sheriff's Department has also expressed condolences to the family and friends of the Lightfoots, describing the incident as tragic.
