A 31-year-old man was arrested at Manchester Airport on suspicion of involvement in a devastating attack outside a synagogue last month that claimed the lives of two worshippers. The attack occurred on Yom Kippur, the holiest day of the Jewish year, outside the Heaton Park Congregation Synagogue in Manchester. During the incident, a 35-year-old attacker, identified as Syria-born British citizen Jihad Al-Shamie, was shot dead by police after ramming a car into pedestrians, stabbing them, and attempting to force his way into the synagogue. Al-Shamie had pledged allegiance to the Islamic State group. Two innocent victims, Melvin Cravitz, 66, and Adrian Daulby, 53, tragically lost their lives in the attack, while three others suffered serious injuries. Cravitz was stabbed, and Daulby was accidentally shot by a police officer as congregants barricaded the synagogue to prevent Al-Shamie's entry. In the aftermath of the attack, six individuals were arrested in the Manchester area, with five later released without charge. A 30-year-old man suspected of failing to disclose information about the crime has been bailed as investigations continue.
