Minnesota Daycare Fraud Row: Nick Shirley's Mother Blames Government for Allowing Scheme to Flourish
Brooke Shirley defends her son, YouTuber Nick Shirley, amid backlash over his video alleging million fraud in Minneapolis day cares.
Conservative YouTuber Nick Shirley's mother, Brooke Shirley, is standing by her son despite widespread backlash over a viral video alleging widespread fraud in Minneapolis daycare centers. The video, released on Friday, claims that 10 daycares operated by members of the Somali-American community have misappropriated up to $100 million in taxpayer funds.
In a recent appearance on Newsmax's National Report, Brooke Shirley criticized local lawmakers for not taking action sooner to prevent the alleged fraud. She drew an analogy, saying that if a house is burning down, it's better to try to stop the fire rather than letting it spread.
Shirley targeted the Democratic leadership in the state, accusing them of allowing the alleged scheme to happen. She praised the Somali-American community for finding a way to exploit taxpayer dollars, but placed the blame squarely on government leaders.
The controversy surrounding the video has also led to criticism of Governor Tim Walz, who has been accused of taking insufficient action to address the issue. Brooke Shirley claimed that Walz knew about the alleged fraud but instead of taking action, he called her son a 'white supremacist' for exposing it.
However, Brooke Shirley said that her son has received support from local residents who value his efforts to expose the alleged scheme. She claimed that the people of Minnesota are grateful for Nick Shirley's work, which she believes is motivated by a desire to 'save our country'.
It's worth noting that Governor Walz has not explicitly called Nick Shirley a white supremacist, but did connect conservative outrage over the alleged fraud to white supremacy in a recent press conference.
