At least seven explosions shook Pakistan's restive Balochistan province over the past 24 hours, causing destruction but no reported casualties. The attacks, attributed to suspected insurgents, targeted various locations in the provincial capital Quetta and Dera Murad Jamali. On Saturday, the violence began when insurgents hurled hand grenades at a police checkpoint in Quetta, followed by a detonated IED explosive near an Anti-Terrorism Department vehicle. Three more blasts occurred in the evening, including one that damaged the main railway line connecting Quetta to the rest of the country. Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Asif Khan stated that the IED devices were planted on the railway track and detonated when a train was scheduled to arrive at Quetta station. The blast suspended railway traffic and caused significant damage to the track. In Dera Murad Jamali, a patrolling police vehicle came under attack, with attackers hurling hand grenades. Additionally, a construction company site in Quetta was targeted, resulting in damaged machinery and injuries to two security guards. No group has claimed responsibility for the incidents, but insurgents resumed their activities on Sunday morning. The violence continued with motorcycle-prone insurgents hurling hand grenades at the Manzoor Shaheed police station in Quetta. One device exploded, while another was diffused by a bomb disposal squad. The attacks also targeted a police patrol post in the Kech Beg area near Quetta, with hand grenades being hurled in the vicinity. The situation in Balochistan remains tense, with authorities working to maintain order and ensure public safety.
