National Guard Soldier Andrew Wolfe in Critical Condition After DC Shooting

A West Virginia National Guard member, Andrew Wolfe, is fighting for his life after being shot in a possible terrorist attack in Washington, D.C. on Wednesday, November 26. Wolfe, a 29-year-old Lineman from Martinsburg, West Virginia, was among two National Guard members shot by Afghan national Rahmanullah Lakanwal, 29. Lakanwal is being probed for the attack, which occurred near the White House perimeter. Wolfe's family and friends have taken to social media to express their support, with his mother, Melody Wolfe, calling on people to pray for her son's recovery. "The blood of Jesus has him covered, Jesus will heal him and he will walk away from this completely healed," she wrote. United States Secretary of the Army, Dan Driscoll, has also visited the injured National Guardsmen in the hospital, expressing his condolences for the victims and their families. "Every one of our National Guardsmen made a courageous decision to serve their community and their nation," he said. The shooting occurred just blocks from the White House, at 2:15 pm local time, near the corner of 17th and I Streets NW. The suspect suffered gunshot wounds and was taken into custody at the scene. Wolfe's condition remains critical as he undergoes surgery.
