A wave of Russian attacks struck Ukraine on Tuesday, resulting in at least six fatalities and widespread destruction. The strikes, which targeted city buildings and energy infrastructure, left several districts in Kyiv without power, water, or heat. Video footage showed a massive fire engulfing a nine-story residential building in the Dniprovskyi district, with two people confirmed dead and five injured. In a separate attack, four people were killed and three injured in a strike on a nonresidential building in the Svyatoshynyi district. Ukraine's energy ministry reported that energy infrastructure had been hit, although the extent of the damage is unknown. Emergency services said six people, including two children, were injured in a Russian attack on energy and port infrastructure in the Odesa region. In a retaliatory move, Ukraine launched a drone attack on Russia's southern Rostov region, killing three people and wounding eight others. Russian air defenses destroyed 249 Ukrainian drones overnight, with 116 shot down over the Black Sea. The attacks came on the heels of talks between US and Ukrainian representatives in Geneva on Sunday about a US-Russia brokered peace plan. Ukrainian delegate Oleksandr Bevz described the talks as 'very constructive,' while Kremlin spokesperson Dmitry Peskov said the Kremlin had not seen the updated plan. US officials, including Army Secretary Dan Driscoll, have been involved in negotiations with Russian officials in Abu Dhabi, aiming to reach a deal to halt the fighting. The US and Ukrainian sides are working to refine the peace plan, with all parties indicating a desire to reach an agreement as quickly as possible.
