A heart-wrenching update has emerged in the case of Sarah Beckstrom, one of the two National Guard members shot near the White House in Washington DC on November 26. Despite undergoing surgery, Beckstrom's condition remains critical. Her father, Gary, has shared a devastating assessment of her health, stating that she has a 'mortal wound' and is unlikely to survive. Beckstrom, an Army Specialist with the West Virginia National Guard, was shot in the head and chest by 29-year-old Rahmanullah Lakanwal. The incident occurred on November 26, when Beckstrom and fellow National Guard member Andrew Wolfe were in Washington, DC, on orders since August. A native of Webster Springs, West Virginia, Beckstrom joined the service in June 2023. As news of Beckstrom's condition spreads, people are taking to social media to offer their prayers and condolences. The perpetrator, Lakanwal, now faces charges of assault with intent to kill while armed and criminal possession of a weapon. Depending on the victims' conditions, these charges could be amended to first-degree murder charges, according to the U.S. attorney for the District of Columbia, Jeanine Pirro.
