In a national address from Florida, former President Donald Trump condemned the shooting of two West Virginia National Guard members in Washington, DC. Trump described the incident as an 'act of terror' and a 'crime against our nation.' The suspect, Afghan national Rahmanullah Lakanwal, was allowed into the US under the Operation Allies Welcome program in 2021. Lakanwal, 29, allegedly overstayed his visa and was residing in the US illegally at the time of the shooting. Trump blamed President Joe Biden for the national security threat, stating that his administration 'let in millions of unvetted foreigners' through the refugee program. Trump also claimed that Lakanwal was flown into the country on one of the 'infamous flights' in 2021. The Operation Allies Welcome program provided support to 90,000 Afghans, making them eligible for Special Immigration Visas. Trump vowed to 're-examine' all Afghans who entered the US under Biden's administration and take 'all necessary measures' to remove those who don't belong in the country. Trump's comments come as the US grapples with immigration and national security concerns.
