US President Donald Trump has shared a social media post claiming that Afghans would behead anyone showing them a Nespresso machine, citing opposition to immigration from the country. This comes after a National Guard shooting in Washington DC, where two members were shot by an Afghan national rescued during the US withdrawal in 2021. Robert O'Neill, a Navy Seal veteran who claims to have killed Osama bin Laden, initially shared the post on X, stating that Afghans would assume someone was a witch if given a Nespresso machine and would chop off their head. Trump reposted the message on Truth Social, where O'Neill has been a vocal supporter. The shooting in DC involved Specialist Sarah Beckstrom, 20, and Sergeant Andrew Wolfe, 24, who were shot by 29-year-old Rahmanullah Lakanwal, an Afghan national who arrived in the US in 2021 as part of the Operation Allies Welcome initiative. Trump called the shooting a 'savage attack' and pledged that the shooter would 'pay a very steep price.' The incident has sparked online discussions about immigration, with O'Neill's views on the topic facing criticism. Trump has previously defended his immigration ban targeting 'majority-Muslim' countries during his initial term.
