US President Donald Trump has criticized the previous administration's handling of Afghan refugees following a shooting attack on two West Virginia National Guard members in Washington. The incident occurred just blocks from the White House, where the suspect, identified as a 29-year-old Afghan national, was apprehended. According to officials, the suspect entered the US in 2021 through Operation Allies Welcome, a program launched by the Biden administration to evacuate and resettle tens of thousands of Afghans after the US withdrawal. Trump accused the Biden administration of being lax in vetting these refugees, citing the suspect's entry into the country on one of the 'infamous flights' in 2021. The suspect, who was also shot but received non-life-threatening injuries, is currently in custody. The two National Guard members, deployed to the nation's capital, are fighting for their lives in critical condition. Trump has vowed to re-examine the entry process of Afghan refugees during his predecessor's presidency, calling the shooting 'an act of terror' and 'an act of evil'.
