Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky announced on Friday that his top aide, Andriy Yermak, had resigned following a surprise raid at the chief of staff's home as part of a broad corruption investigation. The raid, carried out by Ukraine's anti-corruption agencies, has added to the pressure on Kyiv to address corruption within its top offices. According to Zelensky, the Office of the President will undergo reorganization, with Yermak's resignation submitted. The president has scheduled a meeting for Saturday to discuss potential successors. Yermak, a key figure in Ukraine's negotiations with the US, confirmed that investigators entered his apartment within the presidential compound in central Kyiv, but maintained that he was cooperating fully and had not been named a suspect. The raids come as Ukraine faces mounting pressure from Washington to negotiate a peace agreement with Russia, nearly four years into the invasion. Ukraine's National Anti-Corruption Bureau and the Specialized Anti-Corruption Prosecutor's Office have been probing a major $100 million corruption scheme in the energy sector. While the connection between the searches targeting Yermak and the corruption case remains unclear, the incident has sparked concerns about the level of corruption within Ukraine's top offices.
