US Senator Warns Iran's Ayatollah: Trump Will Not Tolerate Regime's Crackdown on Protesters
The protests in Iran, which erupted on December 28 after the country's currency rial hit a record low against the US dollar, have now spread nationwide.
US Republican Senator Lindsey Graham has issued a stern warning to Iran's Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, saying that President Donald Trump will take action if the Iranian regime continues to harm or kill protesters.
Graham's comments came during an appearance on Fox News, where he expressed support for the Iranian people who are demanding a better life amidst nationwide protests over economic woes.
"We stand with the people of Iran, who are fighting for their freedom and a better future," Graham said. "To the Ayatollah, a leader who has terrorized the world, we say: if you continue to kill and harm your own people, you should know that President Trump will not stand idly by.
